SF-1 （Steroidogenic Factor 1） is a 52-kDa nuclear receptor transcription factor that activates the promoters of many key genes involved in steroidogenesis, adrenal development, and reproduction （CYP11A, CYP11B, CYP21B, AHCH, STAR, etc.） within the body. It is expressed in the adrenal gland and reproductive axis both during fetal development and in adulthood. High expression is observed in the adrenal cortex, pituitary, ovaries （granulosa and theca cells）, testes （sertoli and leydig cells）, and spleen.
